Caroline Gardner Christmas 2011

Always been a massive fun of Caroline Gardner's instantly recognisable, quirky but sophisticated designs, and I think her Christmas 2011 range is particularly strong. Images from www.carolinegardner.com

R.I.P Steve Jobs

"Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart." Steve Jobs, 1987.

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to...love what you do. - Your time is limited. Don't waste it living someone else's life."
Steve Jobs

Emma Bridgewater's 'Great Britain'

I've always loved Willow China (yes, really. Blame it on nostalgia). But these new pieces from Emma Bridgewater give the same feel but in a modern quirky way.

Spooky moments and MORE papercut art

So, there I was at work thinking, 'I'd quite like to do some birdcages and birds in a design'. I start sketching away a rough drawing. Then I think, 'I'll have a look at some more papercut designs', and so I go to Rob Ryan's website, and there they were... Practically the same birdcages I had drawn, with the cage open and birds flying out! I think trends are such a subconscious thing, that even though I hadn't seen his design, we still were on the same page. Anywho, I do love his sentimental quirkiness. Here y'go.

Goyte - Somebody that I used to know

Design is one of the few professions where listening to music at work is practically enforced. Ok, so this isn't really design related (apart from a bit of paint) but I just cannot get this haunting song out of my head at the moment. It would make a good song for a film or advert. I'd quite like to get me ol' After Effects skills out again to do some kinetic typography to this song. I do love a bit of kinetic typography. Like this
